This is a famous soup of Iran which is eaten on a variety of occasions such as Yalda and Sizdah bedar.

This soup is a national dish across Iran, eaten on charshambeh soori and sizdeh bedar, both occasions are part of Nowrooz (Persian New Year). This soups main ingredients are a variety of beans, kashk (yogurt whey) and reshteh (thick noodles). The soup is meant to symbolize good fortune. There are so many different variations of this dish depending on region and cook's preference. Normally, the dish will vary in the type of herbs used and the types of beans used. The beans are boiled and the water discarded to get rid of the gas that beans can cause.
